Event Details
The Newcastle Branch of the Industrial Relations Society was formally inaugurated on 17 February 1978, twenty years after the New South Wales Branch of the Society, of which it is a part.
Since its formation the Newcastle Branch has made a major contribution to industrial relations in the Hunter region as those relations developed from the atmosphere of confrontation and distrust during the 1970s to the more co-operative industrial relations environment of today.
The Branch focuses its formal business on four main activities:
- an Annual Conference which attracts well-known figures in industrial relations and human resource management as speakers;
- an Annual Dinner at which the Finnegan Rudd Memorial Address is delivered;
- a series of workshops held throughout the year on matters of topical interest; and
- ·providing networking opportunities for practitioners in the region
