Invite your friends to the movies and experience the inspirational film 'Girl Rising', featuring stories of freedom through the power of education in the developing world.

The feature film includes stories from Egypt, Afghanistan, Nepal, India, Sierra Leone, Haiti, Peru, Ethiopia and Cambodia, written by acclaimed female writers and voiced by some of the world’s finest actors including, Meryl Streep, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Freida Pinto, Priyanka Chopra.

The film is rated PG - parents should accompany persons under 15. Movie review

One in six adults in the world today are illiterate, and two-thirds of these are women.(1) 61 million children of primary school age are currently out of school.(2) Girls are more likely to be out of school than boys, and rural children are twice as likely to be out of school as urban children.(3) Education and literacy are essential for empowerment and the eradication of poverty.

With nine stories of girls in different countries and contexts, the aim of this film is to create a greater understanding of the issues connected with poverty and human trafficking, encouraging individuals to take practical steps in response to these issues.

All proceeds raised will go to support TEAR's partner - Primary Education Project in Pakistan.
