This Ausdance NSW event is part of our Professional Arts Learning Series for Teachers. This all-day workshop is specially designed for teachers of HSC Dance and looks at the Core Composition outcomes.
HSC Dance: Developing Professional Knowledge to plan coherent and engaging teaching programs to improve student learning, Suitable for Stage 4,5,6.
Facilitated by Carla Cherrie.
Carla Cherrie graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) Bachelor of Education in 2006 and is currently coordinating the Dance department at Kirrawee High School. Her passion and knowledge of the art form have led her to be employed by NESA as an Examiner for the High School Certificate Practical Examinations, and the skills that she has acquired from this experience has furthered her own teaching practices and expertise in the subject. She has successfully choreographed numerous works for both the Regional Dance Festival and State Dance Festival and has been involved with the NSW Arts Unit teaching HSC workshops to prospective students throughout the state.
In this workshop, we explore:
Morning Session: Developing students understanding of working with stimulus and creating Motifs with intent through abstraction.
Middle Session: Creating meaningful phrases – Moving from the Motif and beyond
Afternoon Session: Breakdown of the Interview process and looking at ways kids can link the syllabus to their own works. This could be targeted at both Performance and Composition.
HSC Dance: developing Professional knowledge to plan coherent and engaging teaching programs to improve student learning will contribute 6 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 2.1.2 and 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
