JOIN US FOR A GREAT NIGHT OF THEATRE AND CAMARADERIE.
AT THE INCINERATOR THEATRE

Support the Motor Neurone Disease cause and become part of the MND Family at this special night of theatre starring one of our very own MND Queensland staff members - Mal Farrow.

This is a great chance for you to meet some of the MND Qld team and other supporters and families who have been touched by MND, and support Mal as he treads the boards. Enjoy a light supper with us before the show, and tea and coffee and sweets during interval.

The play has become a favourite since the movie starring Jack Thompson, Russell Crowe and John Polson first came out in 1994. This production at the legendary Incinerator Theatre in Ipswich features a fabulous soundtrack of classic rock and pop favourites from bands like the Masters Apprentices, The Easybeats, Mondo Rock and The Dynamic Hepnotics.

It will be an exciting night and we would love to see you there - and your friends -

Synopsis

A widowed father has to deal with two complex issues. While he is searching for “Miss Right”, his son is searching for “Mr. Right”.

Harry lives with his rugby playing, gay son, with both men struggling in their search for true love. Harry is completely comfortable with his son’s sexuality and almost over-eager in his support for his son’s search for a boyfriend. When each does find a new love interest, the “odd couple” relationship between father and son creates big issues for them all.

When the play was released as a movie in 1994 it was number one at box offices throughout Australia with Russell Crowe and Jack Thompson in the lead roles.

An abundance of comedy, as well as a certain depth of sadness, in an exploration of unconditional family love.
Rated: M 15+ Adult themes and coarse language.
Please Note: Herbal cigarettes are occasionally used in this production

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells (neurones) that control the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow fail to work normally. As the neurones degenerate and die, muscles gradually weaken and waste.

MND can affect a person’s ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The disease is fatal and currently has no treatment. The average lifespan from diagnosis of MND is 27 months. People living with MND require a significant amount of care and support. Extensive research is being undertaken globally and throughout Australia to understand the disease and find treatments and ultimately a cure.
