Wherever we find ourselves this year, together we walk the steps our precious babies never had the chance to take.
Part of International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Month, the Walk to Remember is the day where our entire community comes together to remember our babies and to find connection with other bereaved parents, families and friends.
2020 is has been an usual year, and our event will take an unusual form. We will be holding an short online service where you will have the opportunity to share your babies name/s and pause in remembrance of their life.
Following the service, we encourage family and friend groups (with reference to any local restrictions) to go for a walk around your neighbourhood or any special location you associate with your baby 'take the steps our babies could not'. We hope that you will share photos with the Sands and Red Nose community with the hashtag #WTR2020
There are two ticketing options. You can purchase a 'Virtual Walk to Remember Pack' for $25. In this you will receive;
- Mindful Meander passport card to help guide your walk
- In memory sign
- Make your own pinwheel kit
- Packet of Forget-Me-Not seeds
This option is only available until Sunday 4th October to allow time for postage.
The other ticketing option is a Free Ticket to access the online event. Along with your registration, you will receive a downloadable copy of the In Memory sign.
If you want something more to make the day special, Sands is once partnering with NSW small business A Cut Above Byron who will sell personalised t-shirts and singlets directly to families, with a donation per garment going to Sands. Orders need to be received by 27 September to allow for postage time.
