ADHD Update - Dr Roger Paterson, Psychiatrist
Webinar for LADS members only. Supported by:
Dr Paterson will share the latest information on ADHD, and medications used to treat it. His talk will summarise 2 recently attended international conferences featuring the world’s leading researchers.
Bio
I have been active in the field of child, adolescent and adult ADHD for many years. In the public sector from 1989 to 1996 in child psychiatry, and in full-time general child and adult private practice thereafter, with the last few years being mostly an ADHD practice across the lifespan.
As well as my active clinical involvement in ADHD, I have been involved in research also, being the lead researcher in a world 1st study in 1998 showing that dexamphetamine was effective in adult ADHD. I present on the topic frequently e.g. psychiatric conferences, GP education meetings.
I co-convene a group email ADHD support network in Australasia (AusPAN), chair a large peer-review group involving paediatricians and psychiatrists with an ADHD focus, and have been part of the initial board involved in setting up the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA). I commit to promoting ADHD clinical support, research, policy development and advocacy process and that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach, clients will have different needs based on their presenting issues and history.
