Together we walk the steps our precious babies never had the chance to take.

This is a day to come together to remember our babies and find connection with other bereaved parents, families and friends. The event will include a memorial service during which you will be invited to come forward & say your baby’s or babies name/s. The service will be followed by our pinwheel ceremony, a symbolic Walk to take the steps our babies could not - about 10 to 15 minutes - and a chance to picnic in Rockhampton's beautiful Botanical Gardens.

In planning our event we are referent to Commonwealth and Queensland Government COVID restrictions and the COVID safe event checklist. We will be monitoring any changes to restrictions closely and amending our plans as needed.

The event will take place out of doors with groups encouraged to spread out. Please bring along your folding chairs, picnic blankets and your own picnic.

Another thing we are conscious of is the need to streamline purchase interactions at the Walks. We'll do our final risk assessment about a bake sale closer to the day, but we have come to the conclusion that it would be less than ideal to be selling raffle tickets on the day. Our traditional Walk to Remember raffles are a major source of support for the events. Please consider buying tickets in our Qld state-wide WTR raffle to help support the Walks. An option to buy tickets will appear as a sub-ticket option to your registration, as will the option to purchase pinwheels.

For personalised t-shirts and singlets, we are partnering with A Cut Above Byron who will sell shirts directly and make a donation per garment to Sands. Orders need to be received by 21 September at the latest to allow for postage time.  Tanja will continue to accept orders up to 27 September (as we have other local Walks on 18 Oct) but unfortunately delivery timelines can not be guaranteed.

Our precious Walk to Remember events would not be possible without the support of our amazing volunteers and donors. If you can help on the day or would like to make a contribution, please let let us know through the registration process or by contacting Ashleigh arousseaux@sands.org.au or 0412 420 976.
