The Solomons - Harry Hookey, Lucky Oceans and David Hyams play Harry's brilliant songs at the fine Illume Restaurant overlooking beautiful Boat Harbour, Tasmania.
For the last few years Harry Hookey has gigged and busked his way all over Australia, the US, Norway, France and Cuba, along the way opening for the likes of Lucinda Williams, Ryan Bingham and Kasey Chambers. The Gippsland-born boy lives and breathes the troubadour tradition, though not without attracting recognition from the popular music industry - with his debut album ‘Misdiagnosed’ being nominated for ‘Best Blues & Roots Album’ at the 2014 ARIA Awards.
Harry’s line up features 2 of Fremantle’s most prominent and respected musicians – pedal steel maestro and Grammy award winner Lucky Oceans (pedal steel and dobro); and seasoned multi-instrumentalist David Hyams (guitars, mandolin and harmonica). The 3 came together in 2013 to work on the “Murru” project in WA’s northwest - where artists co-wrote and recorded with members of Roebourne prison inmates. Since that time they have performed together in various line ups, including opening the Melbourne Festival in 2014, the 2017 Fairbridge Festival (where they were chosen by punters as the festival’s second favourite act) and at the 2018 National Folk Festival.
